Hi Lindsey, proud Texan here and wanted to make a small correction. Texas was independent from Mexico before the Mexican American war. It was its own country for years then became an American state. It would be an amazing video if you were interested in researching.

Even if Mexico did not recognize Texas, Texas was not “lost to the US” as you say. I live in the city where Maximiliano was executed: Querétaro. As a child I got very sad when visiting the exact place of the execution: "El Cerro de las Campanas" just for the simple fact that afterwards Carlotta, so pretty, had become mentally unstable.
